The “Log Off” protest is in response to the recent NSFW ban announced by Tumblr. The ban flags all content the filtering system detects as NSFW, reducing visibility to the community. The system has proven time and time again that is inefficient, oftentimes flagging SFW material as NSFW.
This SFW material includes art, memes and so on. This ban directly hurts the community and will not solve the actual problems at hand due to the poor flagging system. Because of this, the entire community will suffer.
So to respond, I propose that every user on Tumblr logs off of Tumblr for 24 hours on December 17th at 12 am EST.
Times are listed above depending on timezone!
This post responds to some very common questions about the protest. So make sure to read it over!
I did not know you could export your blog, that is really nice and at least everyone can save their pictures and data.
Toonami Night
I am going to miss these kind of days watching Toonami on Saturdays to early Sunday mornings and seeing other people react and talk about it on here. I kind of hate the stance or at least the way Tumblr is choosing to do its policies, so I kind of don’t want to use Tumblr after the ban or at least to get the idea across the way they are doing things are negative in the long run by not using it so much. Maybe we could log on once and a while, but we could always try going to another site like twitter, pillowfort.io, or maybe use the Toonami discord server, a forum, a live-chat, or something afterwards. It was fun while it lasted.
Doodles of Emara and Moza! Emara is such a cute show it’s on youtube go watch it
Sorry to ask but what's the difference between formal and Informal Arabic? Wanna watched it subbed but don't know which one. Also I just wanted the dubbed episode and I'm in love!!! It's so amazing!!!
Please don’t fucking log off tumblr on the 17th as a protest. All that’s going to do is give tumblr more reason to shut this place down because of revenue loss.

This is blatantly untrue
Companies do not experience one day of revenue loss and pull the plug, destroying years of work and firing dozens if not hundreds of employees.
Companies which experience loss in revenue and consumer interest make investments and changes in order to regain their users/customers. That’s why organized protests and boycotts WORK. Tumblr will NOT go down after one bad day or week, but they might be willing to listen to its userbase if we put up an organized protest. (If you don’t believe me, think about how long sites like MySpace and Google+ hang around with fractions of their previous user base, often for years.)
Yahoo paid over one billion dollars for Tumblr, and the website will not go offline because of a one-day event, so in conclusion,
DO log off on December 17th to show Tumblr that you disapprove of its recent content ban and clumsy execution of censorship.
Please reblog this version of the post to stop the spread of misinformation.
I didn’t know how this kind of stuff works so I apologize for spreading misinformation.
@softestvirgil Personally, I’m all for this protest. I think we should all send a message to Tumblr. But this is only gonna work if we can all pledge to it.
I want to log off and then never come back on again, I will go on again after a week or once in a while to check on some people I follow to connect with them somewhere else, but the way they mistreat users is because they know people will just come back afterwards. Any other site can be used besides tumblr, just like how youtube treats users and creators like crap because they know everyone mostly uses it. They have a monopoly on users and its not like its the only site that can be used to upload videos or post content. It was nice to see artist and some communities on here, but honestly it is not the end of the world and we should be able to go somewhere else to be able to share content and information. People and communities existed before tumblr and it can exist after it.

Then they got an idea! An awful idea!
THE BRANDS GOT A WONDERFUL, AWFUL IDEA! All the marketers thought, “Why should tickets suffice? With the Grinch selling knick-knacks, why, we’ll be paid twice!”
Forget all the morals! There’s cash to be made. From frosting to forklifts to Grinch Gatorade! Just slap his face on there and tint it with green And prepare for profits, yes, profits obscene!
From a seasonal, festival holiday grump, The Grinch had been played for a capital chump. “No more! Won’t you forget these trinkets?” he pleads. “Christmas isn’t junk! It’s your bonds and your deeds.”
For a moment, they paused. Was there more to this day Than products and placements and big bonus pay? The PR men sniffed and they shrugged and they sighed. Then they threw him some cash and they went back inside.
